The Eyre Peninsula Mining Alliance Inc (EPMA) formed in 2010 with two main objectives. The first was to tackle the lack of suitable mining infrastructure on Eyre Peninsula, and the second to promote minerals development in the region.
The group of explorers, developers and producers works with all levels of government towards the provision of the necessary power, water, transport (road and rail), and port infrastructure for mining to achieve its potential as a major new industry on Eyre Peninsula.
It is important to the Alliance that any mineral development is sustainable for the whole community. To this end it also engages special interest groups, communities and individuals in order to gain mutual understanding, identify synergies and build support.
The development of mining infrastructure is perceived to bring benefits to all residents well into the future by boosting the regional economy, providing jobs and training; and improving services and the standard of living.
The EPMA conducts its own research to support its position, but also works alongside recognised industry bodies such as SACOME and RESIC, where their interests align.
Together, the members of the EPMA represent the potential for hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of investment on Eyre Peninsula and the creation of hundreds of long-term jobs. We believe that mining will play an increasingly important role in diversifying and strengthening the Peninsula’s economy and infrastructure base.
